Clinical authorship
EyeCertPrep content is authored by a practicing ophthalmic technician with experience across general ophthalmology, cornea specialty care, retina, and neuro-ophthalmology. That scope matters because COA questions span all of it.
Content about corneal anatomy, retinal pathology, or anterior segment procedures is written by someone who has assisted with those procedures — not adapted from a textbook written for a different audience. The result is questions that reflect what assistants actually encounter, not what physicians document.
- All 22 COA blueprint domains covered with appropriate depth and weighting
- Questions reflect assistant-level decision-making, not physician-level diagnosis
- Rationales explain clinical reasoning — not just which letter is correct
- Content continuously reviewed and updated for clinical accuracy
Why EyeCertPrep exists
Most available COA study resources fall into one of two failure modes: they are either overly broad (designed for multiple certification levels without real depth at any), or they are outdated (written years ago and not maintained). Neither prepares candidates effectively for the actual COA exam.
EyeCertPrep was built to solve this: structured practice that reflects what the exam actually tests, written by someone who understands the clinical scope at the assistant level, at a price that does not require a $150+ leap of faith.
How the content is built
- Questions organized by COA blueprint domains and weighted to reflect exam emphasis
- Rationales follow a structured format: clinical reasoning, why distractors are wrong, practical clinic insight
- Deterministic full-length exam simulation designed to mirror real test pacing and conditions
- Weak-domain detection surfaces your lowest-scoring areas for targeted retest
- Content reviewed and refined continuously to improve clarity and clinical accuracy
Intended use and scope
EyeCertPrep is a supplemental study resource for ophthalmic assistant certification candidates. It works best alongside formal training, clinical experience, and official study materials.
Current focus is COA preparation. Expansion to cover the full IJCAHPO certification pathway (COT, COMT) is planned with the same structured, clinically grounded approach.
EyeCertPrep is independently developed and is not affiliated with IJCAHPO or JCAHPO. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
